Although I understand it is a cartoon and faces are not circles, I do think maybe the faces could be rounder/wider? Especially for Bubblegum. And maybe a little bit more subtle eyeliner on Bubblegum.
I also think Marceline should maybe have thinner, wider lips?
I think the hair you used is perfect.

Great job so far!

In bodyshop under "face" you can increase the width of the upper face (if you go too far, the face will clip into the hair)
You can also increase the lower width of the face, but don't do this too much because it does make the cheeks look funny if you go too far.
Then under "jaw" you can increase the jaw width, this will make a big difference.
And last, you can go back to face and play around with the "face gaunt" and "cheek size" options.
last tip: hovering over all of the options tells you their names

I hope I didn't sound too harsh, I really do think you are doing a great job so far.

I am the same way. I always have to put a sim away, and then open in up again later to finish it. xD
Also, sometimes when I want to make a sim that isn't so distorted and will breed well, I work on the face while the sim is a child. I'll play with the features there, then change the sim to an adult and make smaller adjustments.

Sounds like a good plan. :)
