People hunt purely for sport? I didn't know this. It's hard to not run into people who hunt here in MI. People are really gung-ho about it. I guess it's even worse up in the UP. People schedule days off several weeks in advance for opening day. But, the people here always eat what they hunt.
Back in 12th grade, I remember listening to my 6th grader neighbor talking about hunting. He was really excited about cooking up some venison and onions.
I can understand people who hunt for the food and population control, but it's the getting excited about it part that squicks me out. Some people treat it like a job and that's fine, but the people who are like OOH LOOK HOW GORGEOUS THIS DEER IS THAT WE KILLED and enjoy the chase and all that are just ajkdhaksdjhakjshdjasdhjkad gtfo forever.
