Writing

9,019 words. I'm only doing this so that I actually keep writing. (It makes sense to me, don't worry.)

It seems like a lot, but apparently 9,019 words is only twenty pages. Writing a novel takes foreverrrrrrr, you guys. I'm having fun with it, though. I think I'm rushing things, which is why I always write short stories. It takes me like two lines to describe something and everything always happens very quickly the way I write it. When I write essays I can ramble on forever, but with short stories, things always kind of get to the point quickly. And a longer piece can't be so quick like that. I don't want people to read it and go "Whoa- what the hell just happened?" But then, I can't just stay in one place describing things forever. I dunno. I mean, I think I've already written the first chapter, but it would end up being like 18 pages long. Is that a good length for a chapter? I don't think so. That would only be nine pages in a book. Maybe I don't know how to write. Or maybe I'm just used to reading books with long chapters. I suppose when I'm done writing I can go back and redo the whole thing so it comes out better (because I've planned absolutely nothing, if I plan stuff I never write it). I keep thinking, "Oh, I can add something in there, I can put in more narration," but then I read it the way it is and it just works that way, with no room for more words. I dunno. We'll see what happens.
