Writing

Plotting is hard. Timelines and family trees are very hard. It involves making decisions I'd rather not have to make all at once, because the best ones come spontaneously while writing and I don't want to have to go back and change everything. Plus having stuff spread out over paper notebooks and the computer doesn't help either. I wish there was a thing that could suck the information out of my head so I could examine it and write stories without wasting time on the basic stuff like this. And, of course, coming here and bitching about it is also a waste of time, but I don't care. :) I already have 18 fleshed out characters and five short stories written. What I'm hoping is that I'll be able to write dozens of short stories about the characters (plus more I haven't made up yet) and have a whole big world of my own made. Right now I only have female characters (eighteen, in fact) because they're easier to make up than male characters. And then, once I make them up, I have to make up believeable, non-crappy, coherent, well-written stories about them. This... is going to take a very long time. Plus I keep stopping and getting bogged down by how much I think it's all going to suck when I've finished. I'll have to pretend I'm any good just to get it done.

So that's what I'm doing tonight, how about you?
