How to solve a Rubik's Cube

Okay, so, on Saturday my mother and I went to the mall and to Micheal/Michael/whatever craft thing store, and in their sale bins was a Rubik's Cube. Actually, a cheap knockoff, or whatever. I've always been really fascinated by them, because anyone who knows me knows I have the logic skills of a side-table drawer. So when I bought it I vowed not to ruin the perfect pattern, but this morning I ended up doing just that. So here I was, resigned to a fate of eternal messed-up smarter-than-me cube, or I could do something about it.
So I did.
When I bought it I went online and looked it up (like I always do when I buy something) and Wikipedia said a way of "cheating" is to take it apart and put it back together solved. Then it explained how they're made, but my eyes kind of glazed over and my brain went all mushy. So here I was, sitting in bed, with this stupid unsolved rainbow cube. I was not going to let a little piece of cheap plastic get the better of me, no sir I was not.
So I destroyed it. Kind of. Pulling apart an RC takes superhuman upper body strength and science lab protective goggles, neither of which I had at the moment. But what I did have was a lot of frustration. Some people solve problems by thinking them through and attempting to find a solution. Me, I just kind of rush in and start beating things up. So with the strength of 10 (ten) frustrated ivybgreenflowers, and about ten minutes, I tore that sonofabitch apart. Remember how I said you needed goggles? Yeah, I realized that after a piece ricocheted off of my cheekbone and into my room somewhere. I searched my whole room and I cannot find that piece, but I'm just lucky I still have my eye. Seriously, one centimeter north and I'd be typing this from a hospital bed with no depth perception and an eyepatch (arrrr.)

And then, after a lot of confusion, I finally got it back together. With scotch tape, because the blocks kind of slide around a lot. And even putting it back together takes a lot of strength because you have to keep pushing on pieces to get them back together.
I never did find that missing piece. I'll look again later. I think my cheek still has a red mark.

In other news, my tamagotchi grew up today and is now an adult. :)

And that was my crazy day. How was yours?
