Updates.

Alright, so. I hate when I wait this long to update my livejournal, because now I have a lot to say and also a lot of homework. So let's get cracking.

On Saturday, Andrea decided to go and see omgRent again so Meagan could see it and also because her birthday was last Sunday (Happy birthday again :)).
So Shoshannah, Andrea, Meagan, me, and my lovely boyfriend went to Ruby Tuesday's and then we went to see the movie. I wore blue tights under pink fishnets, a maroon skirt and matching necklace and shoe (I had mismatched shoes, as usual, only these were heels, and the other was silver) and a blue top and one of my mood lipsticks (the blue one, which turns pink on the lips.) I actually brushed my hair (I had gotten new shampoo and conditioner, so I used them and brushed my hair, just for Andrea's Rentday :P) So Rent was so much better this time. The first time it was awesome and phenomenal and all of those other adjectives, but the second time it was even BETTER, maybe because I knew all of the songs by heart (repeated listenings to the music player on the website helped.)

On the omgRent note, I got so into it that I looked up the opera it's based off of, La Boheme. I've only read Act I, but so far it's ULTRA similar to Rent, and the language is more complex and whatever, but it's really awesome.
Name conversions:
Rodolfo: Roger
Marcello: Mark
Colline: Collins
Schaunard: Angel
Mimì: Mimi (note that the Italian has an accent, lol)
Musetta: Maureen (Get it? "Musetta's Waltz"?)
Benoît: Benny
Alcindoro: I had assumed that this was Allison, but then reading the character description, it might actually be Joanne. Note that this is a male character, something I didn't realize at 2:30 last night :P

Marcello
Rodolfo, let me tell you what's
troubling me so deeply.
I'm really freezing cold.

Marcello
My fingers are frozen, as if they
were implanted in that great ice-box,
known as Musetta's heart.

Rodolfo
Love is like a fireplace which
wastes too much...

Marcello
...and too quickly!

Rodolfo
...where Man serves as the kindling...

Marcello
...and Woman is the spark...

Rodolfo
... one is burnt in an instant.

Marcello
... and the other stands and watches.

Rodolfo
But at this moment we are freezing...

Marcello
...and dying from hunger!
-------
{They need a fire, so they want to burn things.}
Rodolfo
Yes! Sharpen your wits man..
Let thought burst into flame.

Marcello
(pointing to his painting)
Let's set fire to the Red Sea?

Rodolfo
No, painted canvas stinks,
but my drama won't, its ardent
passion will warm us.
---------

Rodolfo
No, the paper will crackle and turn to ashes,
then the poetry will rise to Heaven.
This threatens damage to our culture!
Rome is in peril!
---------------------

Rodolfo
Within that languid blue flickering
flame, an ardent tale of love fades!

Colline
A page crackles.

Marcello
There are kisses in there!
--------------------------------

Schaunard
(He enters by the door with
an air of triumph, throwing to the
ground some coins)

For you the Bank of France
has gone into deficit yet again.
--------------------------------------

{During the next bit, Opera!Benny visits requesting rent money; they just keep feeding him wine.}
-------------------------------------------------

Colline
Accident!

Rodolfo
Colline, is that you dead?

Colline
(from the bottom of the stairs)
No, not quite!
---------------------------------
Mimì
(On the doorstep, with an extinguished
candle in one hand and a key in the other)

Would you?

Rodolfo
Do come in for a moment.

Mimì
It is not necessary.
--------------------------
Mimì
Now if you wouldn't mind lighting my candle.
Its all passed now.

Rodolfo
So much haste?

Mimì
Yes.

(Rodolfo notices the candlestick on
the floor, picks it up, lights the candle and
gives it to Mimì without a word)

Mimì
Thank you and good evening.
(she leaves)
{Note the differences between Accented!Mimi, who is a seamstress, and Rent!Mimi.}
------------------------
Rodolfo
I'm looking!

(Pretending to search and guided
by the voice and footsteps of Mimì,
Rodolfo moves towards her, head
bowed, hoping to touch her.
Suddenly he finds himself close to
Mimì, and their hands meet)

Mimì -- (surprised)
Oh!
Rodolfo
(Holding Mimì's hand in a
voice that's full of emotion)

This little hand is frozen,
let me warm it here in mine.
What’s the use in searching?
It's far too dark to find it.
But by our good fortune,
it's a night lit by the moon,
and up here the moon
is our closest of neighbours.

(As Mimì tries to withdraw her hand)
----------------------------------------

Mimì
They always call me Mimi,
I know not why!
--------------------

{She goes from trying to pull away from him to this.}
Rodolfo
(he tenderly assists Mimì
with her shawl)
Take my arm, my little one.

Mimì -- (giving her arm to Rodolfo)
Sir, I'll do as you say.

(Arm in arm they start
towards the door)

Rodolfo
Tell me you love me!

Mimì -- (with abandonment)
I love you.

(they leave)

Mimì and Rodolfo -- (from outside)
Sweet love! sweet love! sweet love!
-------------------------------------

I'm going to go read Act II now, and I'll let you know how that turns out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

So tomorrow is John Lennon's 25th anniversary... bleh. :(

I finally got my exam exemption forms filled out. I get to exempt Keyboarding and Nutrition, the two easiest exams, and they're also on the same day, which means a free day so I can study for the more important Economics and Anatomy.

Well, I think that's everything of importance- ciao :)
