Do not tell me that my hair is too long, either, because it means the same thing.
It makes me feel like you think I'm ugly. Please respect my hair and my opinions about my own hair. Thank you.

When your hair is so long that it takes energy to brush it, or that it gets stuck in chairs, people are trying to help when they say to cut it. Plus, you complain about it. Stop flipping out on everyone.

But that's the same kind of "help" I could get from someone saying that to solve the problem of having, say, crappy parents would be to run away from home, or that a good remedy for cramps would be to remove my own uterus. Cutting my hair is like chemotherapy... sure, it would work, but it's extremely drastic and doesn't always solved the problem. Whether my hair was chin-length (like it was for years) or it's the length it is now, it's still thick, frizzy, and throughly unmanageable. It's still the same hair it was then, and the length hasn't done anything to make the problem worse. I still have to use the same amount of shampoo and conditioner I did when I was 11 and cut my hair to my chin. The only difference between then and now is that my mother did my hair then, and now since I can't have my mother do it I just get lazy and leave it the way it is. Other people can have hair styles, but no matter what I do to my hair it does the same thing. It won't curl, it won't stay straight, it won't even stay brushed for very long, so I don't bother. And I've always, always, always felt ugly, I've always been too fat or my nose was too big or my back was crooked and I had a hunchback and I'm too pale or I'm too dark or my skin is too dry or my forehead is too oily. The one thing I have to like about myself is my hair. I've always dreamed of having long hair, always, since I was old enough to comprehend the difference between long and short hair. It's the only thing I've ever really liked about myself. With everything else, my clothes or my body or whatever, I've never felt like it fit me the right way, there's always been something I thought was glaringly ugly and was almost enough to make me not leave my house. And then I grew my hair, and at least I have that. Okay, I complain about it. The solution is to cut it? Okay, you complain about your parents a lot. Maybe you should kill them. It's the same flipping thing. You all are not helping, and you're definitely not going to change my mind, so save your breath and stop it already.
I'll stop flipping out the minute I stop being so freaking ugly.
This is probably more angry than I wish it was, but that's probably because I put my Homecoming dress on and realize I look like a freakshow. "Come one, come all, witness the amazing fat girl squeezing into a dress! Come, let's laugh at her!" God, I suck at life. I'm surprised people don't just throw peanuts at me.

This is exactly my point. You're saying killing someone's parents is the same thing as getting a haircut. It's not. Don't cut your hair, whatever. I'll stop telling you to cut it if you stop being dramatic. It's just HAIR.

Grace, we like your hair, but you complain about it a lot. That, we don't like.
If you're going to complain, do something about it. That's all we have been saying. Otherwise, it's obviously not that bad or worth the effort to complain about.

I am not going to cut my hair. Which means that humanity and my hair are both not going to change, which also means that it would make sense if people would stop suggesting it.
